The cold
dusty road of hidden streets has been the warmth home of every solitary child
we sometimes gazed. The echoes of their empty laughter lingered in our ears as
we heard them. We witnessed those painful smiles, crying giggles and
oftentimes, tears from their innocent eyes as they were sniffing for something
inside our pockets. They tend to run after us with blood grieving inside their
soul and blood that sometimes drooled out from their mouths because of too much
physical pain. Yes, they were running after us expecting for a small penny that
would vanish their hunger. They were running after you.
What have
you done then? Did you run after your life and kept that penny for your dota
game and cellphone loads? Did you ignore them exclaiming and asking for the
responsibility of their parents? Or, maybe have you uttered selflessly, “I have my own life for survival, the government
is liable for this. They may not work kay manganad ra”?
And you, an
asteeg continued your journey, rode the jeepney, went to university and ignited
the engine inside your life because you are very much well. as an engineer and
as an asteeg.
But what
does it take to be an asteeg? What does
it take to become a genuine asteeg? How does asteeg blood learned to
clothe us as “asteeg” as desired, the blood that has been flowing within us
since we were a zygote? When a becoming asteeg took every difficulty during
SASE exam, he knew that he would be above average. As he started his way for course
reservation, his adrenaline rushed, having every step as exciting as possible.
Amidst the dull, horrible lessons, still he listened with zeal. If he was too
weary, he would stop, turn to his seatmate, crack a joke and all would burst to
laughter.
“An asteeg proved himself to be happily unconquerable.”
The nerves
of an asteeg pleaded while he roamed inside the goosepimply H-building on his
major years. It was not an exaggeration though the perspiration of reality had
made his tee shirt all but wet. He tried to recede, but thinking about his
eloquent survival under diablo’s hands, he pursuit knowing that his fear could
never steal his passion. An asteeg knew how to arm himself in a battle. Indeed,
“an asteeg, a fighter.”
The speed
of clock’s hands was quiet silent. Time passed by that ambiance had threatened
asteegs in their academe. He had brain racking exams, passed, failed, had
incompletes and had retakes. Some had cheated, had fought alone, had cried desperately,
had been drunk and a number, had been a dota addict. The asteeg pride
that was uttered before slowly vanished
into shame. He almost tied himself to the menace of nothing and almost broke
off. All was a spice of hurt and failure yet he never stopped, for he knew that
soon, success will chase him “pants down”.
An asteeg was endowed with a character
that was revered with beaming
patience and self determination. He may be doomed to subtle faith but
he will never quit.
“An
asteeg is preeminent.”
And you, an asteeg continued your journey, rode the jeepney, went to
university and ignited the engine inside your life because you are very much
well. as an engineer and as an asteeg. You moved on without taking a
glance to what is lurking behind you. You have abandoned the reality
of life for you were too engrossed with your seen horizon. You are a self-centered asteeg
who merely hide inside your analytical box that you have let your apathy devour you. You are numb, easy to call noxious and be blown away by the wind.
Now, with the way you live, are
you worthy to be called an asteeg?
Your being asteeg is far beyond your vague box. It is not secluded
with those walls of selfish determination which protects nothing but null. You
are an asteeg because you are peculiar and your asteeg blood has kept you in
the existence of reality.
When
others are oppressed, you make every mode to defeat the oppressor. When those
brave people struggled for your rights, you are with them unhesitant to clash with
dignity as well. When an advocator died because of his love for humanity, you
sympathized and pursue on what he had started.
When others are hungry, poor and trodden, you henceforth grab means for their
deliverance.
An asteeg doesn’t let himself be imprisoned within the world of his
academe.
You cannot sit down doing nothing while
the world is dying with famine and corruption.
You cannot be nonchalant for you lie
amidst the excruciating truth of others.
An asteeg is not self-centered instead you look
forward to what you can do in service whether mere or
prodigious.
An
asteeg believes that “time is mana” and that “first
blood” is as precious as
victory.
You are enamored with the radiance of
legacy and enacted significance survival.
An asteeg has his privilege, to your profession
and advocacy.
Now, you
asteeg, will you still keep your coin beneath the darkness of your pocket?
